DAY 2

LAIKIPIA PLATEAU | GRASSY PLAINS & BREATHTAKING VALLEYS

Fly this morning from Nairobi to the Loisaba Wilderness, an area the same size as Ngorongoro Crater and larger than many of Kenya’s principal national parks. To the north lie the grassy plains of the Laikipia Plateau. To the south, the plateau breaks into valleys, cliffs and escarpments that frame stunning views up to snowy Mount Kenya. Enjoy lunch at the camp, followed by an afternoon game drive capped off with a Scenic Sundowner.

Alongside other fascinating animals, elephant, buffalo, Grevy’s zebra and greater kudu abound. During your time here, be on the lookout for big cats, and even wild dogs, thought for many years to be regionally extinct.

MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE | WHERE LIONS ROAM

After breakfast this morning, fly to the renowned Masai Mara Game Reserve. Here in the Masai Mara, a vast plain teeming with animals, discover the greatest concentration of species in the country. The action never seems to stop, and the chain of command begins with the Mara’s lion population, the largest in Kenya. After settling in, embark on a thrilling game drive followed by a Scenic Sundowner.

DAYS 5 - 6

MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE | INTO THE BUSH

Spend the next two exciting days at your camp, driving across the sprawling savanna in search of abundant game in one of Kenya’s most spectacular game reserves. Running along the Tanzanian border, the Mara forms an essential part of the Serengeti ecosystem. Each year, more than a million wildebeest, alongside zebra and gazelle, march north to graze on the Mara’s lush grasses as part of the Great Migration’s annual cycle. Follow the Mara River to see crocodiles basking in the sun; hippos as they wallow in muddy water; or monkeys swinging madly overhead through the trees. In place of a morning game drive on either day, enjoy an optional early-morning hot air balloon ride (at an additional cost), observing Africa’s wild game from a unique vantage point. Visit a nearby Maasai village for firsthand insight into their unique way of life.

Covering 10,000 square miles, the Serengeti is Tanzania’s most famous national park, home to dozens of species including antelope, hyenas, leopards, giraffes, lions, buffalo and cheetahs. After arriving at your lodge, take part in a late afternoon game drive (time permitting) before sitting down to a delicious dinner.

SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK | SEARCHING FOR THE “BIG FIVE”

Spend a full day in the Serengeti, enjoying morning and afternoon game viewing in this vast, sun-drenched region. Rivers flow through the park, providing habitats for a variety of birds, mammals and reptiles, and antelope can be seen feeding on the plains. Search for the “Big Five” and the lesser-known “Little Five” — ant lion, rhino beetle, leopard tortoise, buffalo weaver and elephant shrew — which may be seen peeking from behind stones or hiding amid acacia branches. Return to your lodge beneath a golden sunset at the end of each unforgettable day.
